TOTAL REFLECTION PRISM AND TOTAL REFLECTION APPARATUS USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a total reflection prism for improving the light collection efficiency in total reflection measurement. SOLUTION: The total reflection prism 22 is provided with an abutting part 38 including a sample face 36 abutting on a sample 32 and a light entrance/emission part 42 including a light entrance/emission face 40 for inputting an incident light 30 having an incident angle of a critical angle or more to an abutting face between the sample face 36 and the sample 32 and outputting a total reflection light 34 from the abutting face. The abutting part 38 is constituted of a hard material with high reflectance in comparison with the sample 32. A region in contact with the light entrance/emisssion part 42 is formed in an inverted triangle shape cross section. The light input/output part 42 is constituted of a material having a wide transmission wavelength range. It characterized in that a region in contact with the abutting part 38 is formed in a recess for exactly matching with the inverted triangle shape, and the abutting part 38 and the light entrance/emission part 42 are in.
