Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer recording medium, which is excellent in solvent resistance and water resistance and with which a highly minute image can be formed. SOLUTION: In the thermal transfer recording medium formed by laminating a releasing layer and an ink layer including a coloring agent in the order named on a support, the ink layer includes polyvinylalcohol with silanol group and silica and/or alumina having the particle diameter of 8-200 nm. By employing specified polyvinylalcohol and silica and/or alumina, the water resistance and solvent resistance are improved through the reaction between the silanol group of the polyvinylalcohol and the silica and/or alumina.
