METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING OPTICAL FIBER COMPONENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing optical fiber components, which method can prevent the fracture of an optical fiber and can improve working efficiency. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the optical fiber components comprises fusion splicing a fiber 6 for leading of a diameter smaller than the internal diameter of an insertion bore 5a of a small-diameter pipe 5 to a tip section of an optical fiber 2a in inserting the optical fiber 2a into the insertion bore 5a of the pipe 5. Next, the tip section of the fiber 6 for leading is inserted into the insertion bore 6 of the pipe 5 and is drawn down. The optical fiber 2a is then inserted into the insertion bore 5a of the pipe 5 and the pipe 5 is cut to a prescribed length, and both end faces thereof are polished. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
