Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder material which, when a high energy beam is applied, is partially or perfectly melted and solidified to form a sintered layer, and prevents the occurrence of cracks induced in the sintered compact by rapid melting/rapid solidification or the like when layer stacking is performed to form a precise three-dimentional sintered compact, and smoothes the surface roughness of the sintered compact affecting its shape precision. SOLUTION: The iron based powder material for forming an iron based sintered compact comprises, by mass, 0.7 to 8.0% Si, 0.04 to 0.6% S, 0.005 to 1% C, 0.2 to 15% Mn and ≤0.05% (inclusive of 0%) P.
