Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter, an optical receiver compatible to the transmitter, and an optical transmission system using these, which can remove pulse width distortion without using a large-sized and expensive dispersion compensation fiber, and in which miniaturization and reduction in cost are possible. SOLUTION: The optical transmitter 10A is provided with a light emitting element 14 which converts an electrical signal to an optical signal, an FM modulation circuit 12 which converts a digital signal to an FM modulation signal, and a driving circuit 13 which drives the light emitting element following the FM modulation signal converted by the FM modulation circuit. The optical receiver 20A is provided with a light receiving element 21 which converts the optical signal to the electrical signal, an amplifier 22 which amplifies the electrical signal converted by the light receiving element, an FM demodulation circuit 23 which carries out FM demodulation and outputs the electrical signal outputted from the amplifier, and a discriminating and regeneration circuit 29 which discriminates and regenerates the digital signal.
