Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing 6-chloro-2-naphthalenesulfonic acid useful as a medicine or an agrochemical, or an intermediate thereof. SOLUTION: The method for producing the 6-chloro-2-naphthalenesulfonic acid comprises adding t-butyl nitrite to 6-amino-2-naphthalenesulfonic acid, and treating the resultant mixture with hydrochloric acid and a copper compound while heating the mixture.
