PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for manufacturing an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), that does not require the work for making and sticking together a polarizing plate for which much time and labor have been necessitated. SOLUTION: A form plate 1 having a number of fine grooves a along a printing direction is attached to a plate cylinder 2 and ink is dropped from a dispenser 3 long sideways to the rotating form plate 1 and is coated and spread by a blade 4, by which dichromatic dyes in a liquid crystal state are forced into the fine grooves a. At this time, the blade 4 is held by being provided with a slight gap without coming into contact with the form plate 1 and is therefore the thin film of ink liquid is formed on the plate surface. When a substrate 6 to be treated fixed onto a printing table 5 passes right below the plate cylinder 2, the thin film of the ink liquid is transferred and applied from the form plate 1 to the substrate 6 to be treated.
