CLEAR OR PIGMENTED POWDER COATING AND USE OF CARBOXY-CONTAINING POLYESTER AND BETA-HYDROXYALKYLAMIDE FOR PRODUCTION OF THE COATING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clear or pigmented powder coating and to provide use of a carboxy-containing polyester and β-hydroxyalkylamide for the production of the powder coating. SOLUTION: The clear or pigmented powder coating contains a polyester produced by the condensation of (A) at least one aliphatic and/or alicyclic diols and/or polyols with (B) at least one aliphatic and/or alicyclic and/or aromatic dicarboxylic acids and/or polycarboxylic acids, and (C) at least one aliphatic and/or aromatic dicarboxylic and/or aromatic dicarboxylic acid esters and/or polycarboxylic acid esters. The polyester has a glass transition temperature of 30-90°C and an acid value of 10-150 mgKOH/g. In this way, it is possible to obtain the powder coating which contains the acid polyester cheaper than a prior art one and gives a coating film high in mechanical stability and outdoor stability after being crosslinked with the β-hydroxyalkylamide.
