NEW COSMETIC MATERIAL AND COSMETIC CONTAINING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new cosmetic material excellent in emollient effect on the skin, conditioning effect on the hair and a disperse function of an oily component and a cosmetic using the cosmetic material. SOLUTION: The cosmetic material comprises a branched alkyl alcohol represented by the formula (1): X-R-OH (wherein X is hydrogen, a hydroxy group, an alkoxy group or an ester group; R is an 12-200C branched carbon chain comprising isobutylene or 2-methyl-1-pentene as a unit). The cosmetic comprises the cosmetic material represented by the formula (1) or the cosmetic material represented by the formula (1) and an oily component. The oily component is preferably either one of a isoparaffin-based hydrocarbon, dimethylsilicone oil, a polyether-modified silicone oil, a polyoxyalkylene-modified silicone oil, methylphenylsilicone oil, an aminosilicone oil and a cyclic silicone oil.
