Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound having ability for regulating biological activity of one or more endothelin isopeptides. SOLUTION: The compounds which adjust or change the activity of peptides of an endothelin family comprise thienyl-, furyl-, and pyrrolyl-sulfonamides. A method for preventing the endothelin peptide from combining with an endthelin receptor comprises contacting the receptor with the sulfonamide, especially, N-(isoxazolyl)thienylsulfonamide, N-(isoxazolyl)furylsulfonamide, and N-(isoxazolyl)pyrrolylsulfonamide. A method for treating diseases mediated by the endothelin comprises administering an effective amount of one or more kinds of the sulfonamides or their prodrugs which inhibit or enhance the endothelin activity.
