Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser scanning device doubling recording density in a subscanning direction from the number of a plurality of beams. SOLUTION: Three scanning lines, that is, the center scanning lines 37 and 39 of both adjacent beams 31 and 34 and a compensating scanning line 38 to compensate space between them (four scanning lines if they are continued) are formed. Then, the light quantities of both beams 31 and 34 are simultaneously increased so that a synthetic side lobe 33 exceeds a threshold level 35. Thus, the side lobes 32 and 36 do not exceed the threshold level 35, but the synthetic side lobe 33 exceeds the threshold level 35 by synthesizing the levels of both side lobes 33a and 33b, consequently, the dots of an area 40 become "111".
