Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dot discrimination device in which a dot is discriminated at high speed in simple configuration while reducing computational complexity. SOLUTION: The dot area discrimination device for discriminating a dot area in a color image signal has: an xy transforming part 2 for transforming an RGB signal of an input image signal into an xy signal on an xy coordinates system; a storage device 3 for storing the xy signal; a chromaticity change amount calculating part 4 for calculating a chromaticity change amount of each pixel within M×N (M and N are positive integers) concerned areas segmented out of the storage device from each adjacent pixel and a total sum of the chromaticity change amounts; and a threshold comparing part 5 for comparing the total sum of the chromaticity change amounts with a threshold.
