Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a methane fermentation method in which ammonia can be removed in the pre-stage of a methane fermentation process, ammonia evolution in methane fermentation treatment can be suppressed to the minimum, and the treatment efficiency can be improved, and to provide a system for the method. SOLUTION: The methane fermentation system includes an ammonia removal apparatus 2 for removing ammonia from an object substance to be treated, which is organic waste, organic wastewater, or their mixture, and a methane fermentation tank 4 for carrying out anaerobic treatment of the object substance from which ammonia is removed, and is characterized in that an ammonia production tank 1 for carrying out biological treatment of the object substance is installed in the upstream side of the ammonia removal apparatus 2 so as to produce ammonia from nitrogen components contained in the object substance and after ammonia is removed from the object substance at a high removal efficiency, the object substance is introduced into the methane fermentation tank 4. The temperature in the ammonia production tank 1 is preferably controlled to be about 30-45°C. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
