DISK SPACER FOR HARD DISK DRIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk spacer with which disc vibration can be reduced by smoothing air circulation around the disk. SOLUTION: A disc spacer 250 is provided which is attached on a circumference of a hub for a spindle motor inside the hard disk drive and holds at least one disc unit to store data. It is characterized in that at least a groove 251 to generate an air current moving towards a direction for the circumference during revolution is formed on a circumference surface 252 of this disk spacer 250. And, the groove 251 can be formed to be gradually deeper in accordance with moving towards an opposite direction from a rotation direction away from a given position of the circumference surface and configured to have a blade surface 251a leading from the deepest part of the groove 251 to the circumference surface. In addition, this blade surface 251a can be configured to substantially cross a tangent for the circumference surface 252. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
