Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for detecting a notch part in a circular workpiece capable of securely detecting the position of the notch part formed in the circular workpiece in a circle. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a drive 1 to rotate the circular workpiece such as a torsional damper having a notch part 102b at one position or more in a circular direction around its axial center, a rotary encoder 2 to detect a rotation angle of the circular workpiece 100, a reflection type optical sensor 4 to take reflection light reflected at a passage position of the notch part 102b when the torsional damper 100 is rotated to continuously detect received light quantity, and a controller 6 to determine the position of the notch part 102b based on relation between rotation angle detection data by the rotary encoder 2 and received light quantity data by the reflection type optical sensor 4.
