Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stave cooler that is inexpensive, has a small amount of pressure loss, and is made of copper or a copper alloy, and to provide a metal refining method using the stave cooler. SOLUTION: The stave cooler 1 is composed of a cast body made of copper or a copper alloy and has a body 2 having channels 3a-3d for refrigerants inside. In the stave cooler, the channels 3a - 3d for refrigerants have first sections 4-1, 4-2 formed by the casting of the body 2, and a second section 5 that is connected to the first sections 4-1, 4-2 by drilling the body 2 after the casting. The first sections 4-1, 4-2 are formed in a curve, and the second section 5 is formed in a straight line. Further, the first sections 4-1, 4-2 are connected to both the end sections of the second section 5 to form two sections. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
