Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolytic solution rechargeable battery with a high energy density in which initial characteristics, especially, stabilization of discharge characteristics at large current discharge and improvement in charge and discharge cycle characteristics are realized. SOLUTION: In the nonaqueous electrolytic solution rechargeable battery which comprises an electrode group having a high density positive electrode in which a positive electrode active material layer is formed at least on one side of a positive electrode current collector, a high density negative electrode in which a negative electrode active material layer is formed at least on one side of a negative electrode current collector, and a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and in which the nonaqueous electrolytic solution is impregnated in the electrode group, the positive electrode active material layer of the positive electrode is characterized by that the specific surface area per its unit area is 0.5 to 1.0 times as much as the specific surface area per unit area in the negative electrode active material layer of the negative electrode opposedly interposing this positive electrode and the separator.
