Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recombinant poxvirus, especially a modified vector such as arecombinant vaccinia virus having improved safety. SOLUTION: This modified recombinant virus has a non-essential virus code genetic function which is inactivated so that the virus has an attenuated toxicity. In an embodiment, the genetic function is inactivated by defecting its reading frame for encoding the toxicity factor, and in another embodiment, the genetic function is inactivated by the insertion attenuation of the reading frame encoding the toxicity factor. The vaccine contains the modified recombinant virus having the attenuated non-essential virus code genetic function so that the virus has an improved level of safety as compared with that of the known recombinant virus vaccine.
