JPEG COMPRESSION FILE GENERATING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a JPEG compression file with a prescribed size by a small number of compression processing times. SOLUTION: In a JPEG compression file generating apparatus for using a quantization table calculated by multiplying a coefficient Aqt with a reference quantization table to generate the JPEG compression file, one set of data comprising the coefficient Aqt and a file size Sjf of the JPEG compression file produced by using the coefficient Aqt is used to calculate an unknown constant D in an expression Sjf=(unknown constant D)×Aqt) (known constant C) (step S33), and calculates the coefficient Aqt to bring the file size Sjf to a prescribed size on the basis of an expression target file size = (calculated constant)×Aqt (known constant C) by using a target file size and the calculated constant D.
