Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a ruthenate having high purity, high crystallinity, a large specific surface area, and high heat resistance, and to obtain a ruthenate catalyst obtained by the method. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a perovskite-type lanthanum ruthenate crystal expressed by the formula: La3.5Ru4O13(La is 12-O-coordinated lanthanum; Ru is 6-O-coordinated ruthenium; O is oxygen), lanthanum hydroxide and ruthenium hydroxide are produced by reacting an aqueous solution containing La ions and an aqueous solution containing Ru ions with a precipitation forming liquid in a reactor, and the resultant precipitate is heated and crystallized.
