SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchronous motor which has good controllability and in which the power factor and a peak torque are raised. SOLUTION: The synchronous motor comprises: a stator 3 having an armature coil 32 wound in the slot of a substantially cylindrical shape stator core 31 made of a magnetic material; and a rotor 2 disposed oppositely to the stator 3 via an air gap and constituting a plurality of poles made of the magnetic material. In this motor, the rotor 2 has a permanent magnet rotor section 22 disposed oppositely to the position of the same length in the axial length of the core 31 and having a plurality of permanent magnets 22b fixed onto the surface of the outer periphery of a rotor core 22a, and a reluctance rotor section 21 disposed at a position opposed to the coil end 32a of the core 31 of the coil 32 and having a plurality of salient poles 21b becoming a shape having a magnetic saliency.
