METHOD AND DEVICE FOR OPTICAL FIBER TRANSMISSION USING RAMAN AMPLIFICATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for controlling Raman amplification processes without using a signal light to be transmitted regarding the method and the device for optical fiber transmission using Raman amplification. SOLUTION: In the method, an optical fiber transmission line 2 that transmits the signal light is first provided. A Raman repeater 16 having a pump light source that supplies a pump light to be propagated in the reverse direction of the propagation direction of the signal light to the optical fiber transmission line 2 is provided halfway of the optical fiber transmission line 2. Similarly, an end station device 14 having the pump light source is provided on one end of the optical fiber transmission line 2. A control signal is transmitted to the Raman repeater 16 by the pump light from the end station device 14. Since the method is constituted so that the Raman repeater 16 is controlled by the pump light from the end station device 14 on the reception side, no problem in the case of performing control by the signal light is caused as in the conventional technology.
