Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional printer that a sheet must be cut on the four sides when an elongated sheet is used because a dot image cannot be converted. SOLUTION: In the controlling method of a printer for interpreting a PDL document and printing it while developing into a dot image, imposition of every four pages is specified on one side of a sheet and an imposition control section shifts the dot image in all relevant pages by specifying a print position shifted to one side among four sides in each relevant page. At first, a printed matter is folded in four in the center thereof and then three sides are cut simply thus making a both-sided printed matter having 8 page finish size of a document.
