CERAMIC END TAB FOR WELDING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic end tab for welding capable of suppressing the occurrence of an undercut, etc., which are heretofore problems, by drastically decreasing the contact area of the ceramic tab with the non-welding segments of base metals and of promoting the penetration to the base metals by creating clearances between the base metals and the tab material. SOLUTION: The ceramic end tab 10 for welding is used in butting the first base metal formed with an edge prepared surface to the flank of the second base metal and welding both base metals and has a contact surface of weld metal formed to be recessed in nearly correspondence to the groove section and a base metal contact surface 14 projecting relatively to the contact surface of the weld metal and coming into contact with the end face of the first base metal. A plurality of single projections independent in all of X and Y directions are formed on the contact surface 14 and the height thereof is specified to 0.2 to 2.0 mm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
