Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microwave oven that reduces nonuniformity of heating of food by reducing the area for contacting the food with a shelf in a system for heating the food by diffusing a microwave by a microwave diffusing means arranged on the lower side of the shelf for placing the food. SOLUTION: This microwave oven has an external cover 2, a heating chamber 3 formed in this external cover 2, having an opening in a front face, and housing the food, a door 11 for opening-closing a front opening 3a of this heating chamber 3, a magnetron 6 for supplying the microwave in the heating chamber 3, the shelf 14 arranged under the heating chamber 3, and placing the food, and the microwave diffusing means arranged between this shelf 14 and a bottom wall 4 of the heating chamber 3, and diffusing the microwave oscillated by the magnetron 6, and is characterized by arranging a means for reducing the contact area of the food and the shelf on an upper surface of the shelf 14.
