PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate and provide information desired by a user. SOLUTION: The degree of interest of each user in each category is managed by an access history means 4. Users are identified by a user identifying means, and the specification of information to be used is accepted by an information selection input means. The specified information is read from an information source 6 by an interested information selecting means 5 and displayed on a monitor 8 via an editing means. On the other hand, the category to which the specified information belongs is decided by a user-specific access information categorizing means 3, and the decided category and the identified user are informed to an access history managing means. The degree of interest of the identified user in the informed category is increased by the access history means 4. When the specification for an automatic mode is accepted by the information selection input means, the category wherein the degree of interest of the user is set highest is informed to the interested information selecting means 5 by the access history means 4, and the information belonging to the informed category is read from the information source 6 and displayed on the monitor 8 via the editing means by the interested information selecting means 5.
