Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neutron absorbing material having high toughness and uniformly dispersed boron for a radiation generator, a nuclear reactor, and the like. SOLUTION: This neutron absorbing material is formed of a boron-mixed 2D (two-dimensional)-carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composite material constructed of 1-50 wt.% of boron and the rest of carbon fiber and a matrix. A capacity ratio of the carbon fiber is 20 volume % at least, and boron carbide powder with a mean grain size of 5 μm or less is used as a source of the boron and heated at a temperature of 1,800°C or higher, at least. In the carbon material, its spacing of a (002) plane based on an X-ray diffraction method of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science is 0.341 nm or less. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
