Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for describing an image, which comprises the steps of: describing a complete and extended image by using both a standard description and a non-standard description in a self-contained digital file; and matching this non-standard description and a widely used standard image decoder. SOLUTION: The method for preserving a digital image file comprises the steps of: preserving a header 12 specified by the standard; preserving image data 14 coded according to the standard after the header 12; and preserving an image end 16 including non-standard meta data at the tailing end of the image data.
