SOLUTION: The optical semiconductor signal reception module furnished with a rectangular package 11 fixed with a beam-condensing spherical lens 14, a chip carrier 12 fixed within the package 11, a semiconductor photodetector 13 mounted on the chip carrier 12, and an optical fiber 17 having a diagonally polished exit end is characterized in that a photodetecting surface of the photodetector 13 is fixed horizontally to a fixing surface of the lens 14 in such a manner that the transverse direction of the package exists at the center and that the height direction thereof exists off the central position of the lens in the base surface or top surface direction of the package 11 with respect to the center of the lens.
