Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine controller and a screening method wherein a voltage switching command signal for screening is positively and reliably realized by a simple system without requiring an exclusive input terminal. SOLUTION: The engine controller 107 is provided with integrated circuits 200, 112 and 113 inputted with various types of sensor signals via input terminals 20-0 to 20-n to carry out arithmetic processes necessary for control, and an output voltage regulating circuit 250 for selectively setting a rated voltage used in normal operation and a rated voltage for screening. When a predetermined signal level not used in the normal operation is inputted in one or more of the sensor signal input terminals 20-0 to 20-2 used in the normal operation, a CPU 200 issues a command to the output voltage regulating circuit 250 to switch to the rated voltage for screening.
