TRAFFIC INFORMATION PROVIDING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic information providing system enabling to take an action such that a vehicle which need not use a congested lane goes to another lane, and a vehicle which uses the congested lane bypasses if possible by providing the congestion of a certain partial lane with the estimated reason thereof. SOLUTION: This system has a device 1 for monitoring a fixed range on a road to detect the position or position and magnitude of vehicles reduced in speed to a fixed speed or less within the monitoring range, an information processor 3 using information from the detecting device, and an information providing device 4 for providing information to a vehicle traveling toward the monitoring range. The occurrence of a congestion in a specified lane is detected from the staying state of vehicles in the monitoring range, and the information is provided to the following vehicles, whereby a traffic congestion is prevented.
