Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte membrane for a fuel cell, which has excellent heat resistance and does not transmit methanol. SOLUTION: The electrolyte membrane for a fuel cell is composed of a composite membrane of an inorganic ion conductor and an ion-conductive polymer. Examples of the inorganic ion conductor include zeolites and inorganic oxides having ion conductivity for proton (H+) A membrane obtained by dispersing the inorganic ion conductor in a medium, suction-filtering the resultant dispersion through a filter medium to form an inorganic ion conductor membrane, adding a solution of the ion-conductive polymer to this membrane and then suction-filtering the mixture is dried, thereby obtaining the electrolyte membrane for a fuel cell composed of the composite membrane of the inorganic ion conductor and the ion-conductive polymer.
