PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder for automatically erasing an unneeded silent part after music ends in the case of recording the music from a different storage device through an analog input terminal. SOLUTION: In this recorder provided with a means for inputting an analog sound signal, a means for converting the sound signal into a digital sound data, and a means for recording the sound data on a recording medium and for managing the sound data related to the music with a track as a unit, if a silent state of the analog sound signal continues for a prescribed period of time after the music ends, the address where sound data when the prescribed period of time continues is recorded is stored, and if the sound data recording area of the recording medium is full by an increase in the silent part recorded with silent sound data on a track where certain music is recorded, the address is used to divide the track and a track of only silent part caused by the division is erased.
