Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an electrode by the thermal decomposition method in the atmosphere suitable for mass production while maintaining the high strength of a conductive base material, in particular, a nickel-woven mesh. SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing the cathode for hydrogen generation which is obtained by applying a catalyst solution containing ruthenium compound to a nickel base material, and performing the thermal decomposition, the pH value of the catalyst solution containing at least one kind of platinum compound is adjusted to be in the range of 1 to 2.3, the catalyst solution is applied to the nickel substrate, and subjected to the thermal decomposition in the air.
