METHOD OF MANUFACTURING PERMANENT MAGNET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a permanent magnet, which is capable of easily improving the permanent magnet in orientation uniformity by devising operation of a conventional press device. SOLUTION: The press device is equipped with a die 2 provided with a through-hole, a first punch 4, a second punch 6, and a magnetic field applying mechanism. A molded body is formed of permanent magnet material powder by the use of the above press device through this permanent magnet manufacturing method. The manufacturing method comprises a magnetic field applying process of applying a magnetic field to the material powder kept in a cavity formed of the die 2 and the punches 4 and 6, and a compression process of applying a pressure to the material powder oriented by the application of a magnetic field and forming the molded body of the material powder. The compression process comprises a first process of displacing one of the first and second punch, 4 and 6, to the die 2 to press the material powder, and a second process of displacing the other of the punches 4 and 6 to the die 2 to press the material powder.
