Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein back scattering light generated in a front scattering light system can be suppressed and which is manufactured at low cost and has high quality. SOLUTION: A reflection plate 11, a transparent electrode 10 and an alignment layer 9 are successively formed on a glass substrate 12, and a transparent electrode 5 and an alignment layer 6 are successively formed on a glass substrate 4. The glass substrates 4 and 12 are stuck to each other via a liquid crystal layer 8 by using a sealing agent 7. A retardation plate 16 is formed on the outer surface of the glass substrate 4, a scattering plate 13 is formed on the retardation plate and a circularly polarizing plate having 40 to 50° optical axis angle set by a first polarizing plate 1 and a quarter wavelength plate 15 is formed on the scattering plate 13.
