Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method capable of uniformly and efficiently washing the whole area of a particulate filter with water to efficiently wash away combustion residues having high viscosity and many SOF components, and surely avoiding the degradation of catalytic performance and breakage of the particulate filter. SOLUTION: In this cleaning method for a particulate filter 4 provided in the middle of an exhaust pipe and collecting particulates in exhaust gas, water or vapor of >80°C is sprayed onto the particulate filter 4 at an injection pressure of 0.5-2 MPa and to attain a liquid phase condition at the time of the attainment of washing away combustion residues 12.
