ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric toothbrush which can brush the openings between the neighboring teeth thoroughly and efficiently by rotating a brush body reciprocatly and driving it rearward and forward simultaneously. SOLUTION: The electric toothbrush comprises a main body case 1, a brush arm 2 extending from the upper end of the main body case 1, and a brush body 3 arranged on one side of the upper end of the brush arm 2. An ultrasonic motor 10 for driving the brush body 3 is housed within the upper end of the brush arm 2. A connection piece 25 is fixed on an output shaft 12 of the ultrasonic motor 10. The brush body 3 is connected to the connection piece 25 so that the brush body do not rotate relatively to the connection piece but can move in the direction of the shaft. The electric toothbrush is equipped with a driving mechanism for driving the brush body 3 backward and forward reciprocatingly. The driving mechanism is provided between an attachment part 13 mounted on the tip of the brush arm 2 and a holder 23 of the brush body 3. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
