IMAGE READER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce manufacture costs by miniaturizing the driving motor of a feed roller or the like and to prevent noise caused by the friction of the feed roller and a glass plate in the image reader of a 'scanning' type. SOLUTION: The image reader comprises: the feed roller 1 for pressurizing and carrying an original 3 to an image read part 2; a roller shaft 5 rotated together with the feed roller 1; a roller shaft gear 4 fixed to the roller shaft 5; a planetary gear supporting plate 6 mounted rotatably around the roller shaft 5; planetary gears 7 arranged rotatably with the planetary gear supporting plate 6 on both sides across the planetary gear supporting plate 6, one of which is engaged with the roller shaft gear; a sun gear 8 engaged with the other one of the planetary gears; a driving means 11 for driving the sun gear 8; and rotation control means 9, 8, 10 and 12 for applying loads on the planetary gear supporting plate 6 so as to control the rotation of the planetary gear supporting plate 6.
