METHOD AND DEVICE FOR OPENING/CLOSING MOLTEN METAL TAPPING HOLE FOR METALLURGICAL FURNACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a single device for opening/closing a molten metal tapping hole used for both functions of the opening and the closure of the molten metal tapping hole. SOLUTION: In the method for opening/closing the molten metal tapping hole 1 in a metallurgical furnace for melting raw materials, such as ore, a core metal rod 2 is used as a spindle and a mud material 3 having a cross sectional shape a little larger than that of the molten metal tapping hole, is formed as a columnar shape around the core metal rod, and the molten metal tapping hole is closed by driving in the mud material together with the above core metal rod and desirably, the molten metal tapping hole is opened by pulling out the driven-in core metal rod together with the above mud material from the mud material.
