INTERNAL SHUNT STRUCTURE FOR BLOOD DIALYSIS AND METHOD FOR FORMATION OF INTERNAL SHUNT STRUCTURE FOR BLOOD DIALYSIS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an internal shunt structure for blood dialysis under the skin without injuring human bodies like a scalpel incision. SOLUTION: A needle is pierced to a vein near the wrist of a human body from outside and is advanced to an artery near the needle so that a guide wire freely retractable or slidable through the needle is left in the vein and the artery while the needle is returned outside the body. The guide wire is covered with a balloon, which is inflated to make a space part to communicate between the vein and the artery so that the space part is utilized to insert an artificial blood vessel between the vein and the artery to link the vein to the artery. The structure thus obtained accomplishes the formation of an internal shunt under the skin without depending on the incision. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
