SOLUTION: A media converter 100 includes a twisted pair cable signal processing part 108 for detecting a reception signal from a pair of twist lines, and for outputting a signal indicating the link conditions of a twisted pair cable interface, an optical link 116 for detecting a reception signal from an optical fiber cable 104, and for outputting a signal indicating reception conditions in the optical interface, a condition notice control part 118 for outputting an optical link control signal for controlling the link conditions of the optical link 116 and information indicating the communication conditions, and an optical link control part 114 for controlling the link conditions of the optical link 116 based on the optical link control signal.
