PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater capable of preventing wasteful boiling-up and a water leakage accident beforehand by surely detecting the leakage by a leakage detector in a case of water leakage even if being used for a long period of time. SOLUTION: This water heater is provided with the leakage detector 10 detecting the water leakage installed in a delivery port 18 in a bottom plate 9 for covering the lower part of the hot water storage tank 2. The leakage detector 10 comprises a receptacle-shaped case 11 having a leakage inlet 12a in its upper surface and a leakage outlet 12b in its side and a float switch 15 having a float 16 inserted through the lower part of the outer circumference. A contamination shutter 20 is disposed in an upper part of an operation uppermost point (a level difference part 15b) of the float 16. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
