Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member which endures high load, has reduced friction coefficient, hardly wears, radiates generated heat speedily because its thermal conductivity is excellent, and holds its performance for a long time, and also to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: This sliding member is provided with a sliding member main body and a surface layer having a slide face in contact with a mate member. The sliding member main body is formed by a material guaranteeing mechanical strength of the whole sliding member and provided with heat resistance for heating temperature when forming the sliding member. The surface layer includes carbon nanotube substantially, and the material forming the sliding member main body is formed in a condition in which it enters between carbon nanotubes.
