Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continue reproduction synchronously with an internal word clock when an external clock and reproduction media are different in a word clock frequency. SOLUTION: Equipment which requires different master clocks for a CD system and a DVD system like a DVD player performs synchronous operation with a master clock generated by an external clock circuit 6 when the master clock has the same frequency with media in reproduction and with a master clock generated by an internal clock circuit 12 for CD or an internal clock circuit 13 for DVD when not. Consequently, even when the externally supplied master clock is different from the reproduction clock of the internal media, a player side automatically selects the internal clock operation to evade abnormality of a reproduction speed of sound or a state wherein no sound is generated caused when the external clock is synchronized in a different-frequency state.
