Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for a cyclic dialdehyde whereby the catalyst component of a rhodium compound catalyst can be efficiently recovered and reused, reducing the catalyst cost, and the cyclic dialdehyde can be recovered in a high yield without producing byproducts such as acetal. SOLUTION: In this method for producing the cyclic dialdehyde by hydroformylating a cyclic diolefin with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in a hydroformylation solvent mainly comprising a hydrocarbon compound in the presence of the rhodium compound catalyst, an aprotic polar solvent containing nitrogen or sulfur is mixed as an extracting solvent into the resultant reaction liquid after the hydroformylation to separate it into a hydrocarbon compound layer containing the rhodium compound catalyst and an extracting solvent layer containing the cyclic dialdehyde; thus, the cyclic dialdehyde is extracted into the extracting solvent layer.
