LEADER BLOCK ASSEMBLY WITH SNAP-IN FUNCTION FOR DATA MEMORY TAPE CARTRIDGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a leader block assembly which facilitates the sure engagement between a tape clamp and a leader block. SOLUTION: The assembly 28 has the leader block, the tape clamp 62 and an elastomer member 64. The leader block constitutes a groove formed of opposite side walls which respectively form lips having under surfaces and extend from a base. The tape clamp is housed in this groove and has a base surface, opposite flanks and at least one cantilever-like legs respectively arranged at each of the opposite flanks. The respective legs extend upward with respect to the base surface. The elastomer member is arranged between the leader block and the tape clamp and energizes the tape clamp to a fixing position where the legs engage the under surfaces of the respective lips to provide the sure engagement between the tape clamp and the leader block.
