Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent the generation of irregularity in luminance while switching light emitting elements, that are objects for driving, by controlling the recharging state of parasitic capacitors. SOLUTION: A matrix type display device 10 is provided with a plurality of light emitting elements E1,1 to En,m which are formed at the crossing points of a prescribed number of anode lines A1 to Am and cathode lines B1 to Bm. When the lines A1 to Am are set as scanning lines, the lines B1 to Bm are set as driving lines and vice versa. When the light emitting elements, that are driving objects, are to be switched, a scanning signal (an earth potential) is supplied to the scanning line (the cathode line B2) corresponding to the light emitting elements that become new driving objects and a switching is temporarily made to supply a nondriving signal (the earth potential) to all driving lines, parasitic capacitors corresponding to the light emitting elements not connected to the scanning line that is being scanned are recharged in a reverse state and the recharging states of the capacitors are made same. Then, driving signals are supplied to the driving lines corresponding to the light emitting elements that are set as driving objects. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
