Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the generation of smoke while sufficiently providing the effect of temperature rise of exhaust when the temperature of the exhaust is increased by the combustion of weak stratified mixture by injecting fuel two times at forward and afterward stages in a period ranging from the intake stroke of a cylinder 2 to an ignition timing at least in a low load area when catalysts 40 and 42 are not heated in a direct injection engine 1. SOLUTION: The ECU 50 of a control device A comprises an ignition timing control means 50a for delaying the ignition timings of the engine 1 for each cylinder 2 after a TDC when at least one of the catalysts 40 and 42 is not heated and a fuel injection control means 50b reducing the ratio of the amount of injection on the afterward stage to the overall amount of injection while increasing the amount of injection of fuel on the forward stage more than that on the backward stage and as the overall amount of injection of fuel per cycle injected on both forward and backward stages is larger, and delaying the timing of start of injection on the backward stage according to a reduction in the ratio of the amount of injection. A swirl valve control means 50c for reinforcing a swirl flow by closing a swirl control valve 35 may be installed in this case. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
