SOLUTION: A semiconductor memory device comprises memory blocks of one or two or more. This memory block has a memory cell array consisting of a plurality of memory cells 210 arranged in a matrix state. Regions of a plurality of memory cells 210 consist of a plurality of regions 201a-201e divided in the direction along word lines WL, a plurality of word lines WL consist of a plurality of divided selection lines WLa-WLe divided corresponding to the plurality of divided regions respectively. The memory block has switching mechanism 220 for switching the divided word lines WL activated simultaneously in each divided region.
